Winter in the shop
Stacked against the west wall of our shop are seven hundred board feet of cherry, milled last February. It won’t be touched until spring. Wood acclimates slowly, and a table built from lumber that hasn’t settled will cup and split within a season of living in a heated home.
Patience is the invisible ingredient. By the time a customer sees a finished table, it has been in the shop for eighteen months.
